FM: Sisi, Merkel to discuss fighting terrorism and illegal immigration

CAIRO - 30 October 2018: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Monday, October 29 that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel meeting will discuss on Tuesday a number of issues mainly Germany's support for Egypt in economy, education programs and technical education.

Shoukry stressed that meeting will tackled the Egypt's efforts dialogue of illegal immigration and the German guarantees offered to motivate the German companies to work in Egypt, alongside the role of Germany in the European Union.

Shoukry pointed out that the talks between Egyptian President Abdel Fatah and the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Monday, October 29 discussed Arab bilateral relations and their regional influence, Egypt's efforts in fighting terrorism and illegal immigration.

Moreover, Shoukry affirmed that there is interest from the German side in development programs with the African continent to defuse crisis, armed conflicts and reduce illegal immigration.

There is interest from German companies to expand their investments in Egypt and expose Egyptian efforts being made in the field of investment and infrastructure, Shoukry added.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi left Cairo on Sunday for Berlin on a four-day visit to participate in the G20 Compact with Africa summit at an invitation from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Sisi held mini-summits with African leaders and heads of state that are members of the G20 Partnership with Africa.

Sisi’s schedule will include bilateral meetings with ministers of interior, foreign affairs, development and cooperation as well as economy and energy.
