CAIRO - 245 October 2018: Egypt is a country known for its pluralism, diversity and acceptance of the other, said Bishop Adly Thomas of Giza during an international seminar organized by Al Azhar on Islam and the West.

Anba Adly lauded the moderate and tolerant approach adopted by Al Azhar. He underlined the importance of renewing religious discourse to cope up with rapid changes of the time, make the life of people easier and foil attempts by terrorist groups to distort the image of religions.

He lauded Al Azhar's role in conveying a true image of Islam and making clear to the entire world that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism through the repeated tours abroad by Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Tayyeb to correct the wrong image depicted on Islam by the West.

Inviting European officials to this seminar is a very important step meant to prove to the entire world that Islam is not responsible for extremism of terrorist groups, he added.
