CAIRO – 25 September 2018: Robert McFarlane, the former National Security Advisor to late U.S. President Ronald Reagan, affirmed the importance of providing more support to President Sisi in his fight against extremist.

Lauding President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi's adopted policy in fighting terrorism, McFarlane said in an interview with DMC that he believes this policy is very useful and wise.

Earlier in September, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo authorized the release of $1.2 billion in military aid to Egypt.

The State Department announced that Pompeo authorized the release by signing the necessary national security waivers allowing the money to be spent, according to a statement provided to the Associated Press.

Later in July, the U.S. Administration ordered the release of $195 million in military aid to Egypt, which was withheld in August 2017 over allegations of human rights and democracy breaches.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said that the U.S. decision emphasizes the significance of bilateral relations between Egypt and the U.S.
