Sisi inaugurates roads, bridges, axis of upper Nile Tama Bridge

CAIRO – 9 September 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi inaugurated Sunday several roads, bridges and the axis of upper Nile Tama Bridge that were implemented by the General Authority for Roads, Bridges and Land Transport and the Military Engineering Authority.

Presidential spokesperson BassamRady referred that President Sisi will inaugurate through a video conference four bridges, including Qus, Qena, Borg Al-Arab and Baltim bridges.

Additionally, Rady remarked that Sisi will inspect and inaugurate the last phase of the north-western arch of the regional ring, extending from the intersection with Cairo - Alexandria agricultural road to the intersection with Cairo - Alexandria desert road.

He added that the Armed Forces’ National Company for Construction and Development of Roads of the National Service Projects will operate and maintain the regional ring road in return of 50 percent of its revenues.

As for the axis of upper Nile Tama, Assiut and Sohag, Sisi will inaugurate the first phase of the bridge, which is about 6.8 km starting west the Sohag road and ending east the agricultural road in Assiut, with a cost LE 55 million.

President Sisi launched on July 22, 2014, a national project for roads, which includes upgrading and constructing 39 roads with a total length of 4,400 km to link governorates through internal roads and establish a new international road network.

In his speech on the occasion of launching the new Suez Canal Project on August 5, 2014, Sisi remarked that developing roads helps empower Egypt's economy.
