BEIJING - 1 September 2018: China’s official Xinhua news agency highlighted on Saturday Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit to Beijing to take part in the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), to be held on Monday and Tuesday.

Xinhua described, in an article published Saturday, Sisi’s visit as “historic”, noting that the Egyptian leader’s participation in FOCAC summit is of great importance in light of Cairo’s leading role as well as its political and cultural weight across Africa.

Earlier in the day, Sisi arrived in China on a four-day visit, during which he will also hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang in addition to other senior Chinese officials.
