BEIRUT - 21 August 2018: Lebanese Minister of Information Melhem al Rayashi has praised efforts exerted by Egypt to combat terrorism, describing them as "excellent".

In an interview with MENA correspondent in Beirut, the Lebanese minister said that Egypt, with its army and security forces, exerted tremendous efforts to confront terrorist groups.

The minister shed light on the role of the media in fighting extremist thought and called on the Arab League to shoulder its responsibility in fighting extremist ideologies and activating the Arab councils of culture and education to prevent extremists from brainwashing youths.

On the formation of a new government in Lebanon, he expressed belief that there will not be a new government announced in the coming period, attributing the delay of the government formation to the lack of support for prime minister-designate Saad Hariri.

Rayashi expressed keenness on achieving national reconciliation in Lebanon and bringing all differing factions together to start dialogue.
