CAIRO - 19 August 2018: The Egyptian authorities received on Saturday Seif Eddin Mostafa, who hijacked an Egyptian plane in March 2016.

The hijacker had arrived in Cairo under tight security in order to be deported to El-Khalifa police station then to be interrogated by the prosecution.

Mostafa, 60, hijacked an EgyptAir flight with a fake suicide belt in which he threatened to detonate in a bid to force the pilot to divert to Turkey, Greece or Cyprus.

Earlier in the day, Prosecutor General Nabil Sadeq ordered to refer the fugitive to the prosecution to interrogate him after his extradition from Cyprus.

On September 30, 2016, Nicosia District Court approved Egypt's request to extradite him to stand trial in Egypt.
