CAIRO - 9 July 2018: The Public Prosecution said it is still investigating the cause of the 2016 crash of EgyptAir flight MS804 that was en route from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Cairo.

A statement issued by the Prosecutor General's office on Monday refuted as "baseless" reports published by news websites to the effect that EgyptAir flight crash was likely to have been caused by a cockpit fire.

The Prosecution made it clear that investigations are still underway in this regard.

According to the forensic report, traces of explosives were found on the remains of some victims of the ill-fated flight.

The plane plunged into the eastern Mediterranean on May 19 shortly after departing the Greek airspace, killing all 66 passengers on board.
