CAIRO - 18 May 2017: Guinean President Alpha Condé announced his support for the nomination of Ambassador Moushira Khattab to be Director-General of UNESCO, and as the president of African Union (AU), he will increase his efforts to gain her African leaders’ support, according to the foreign ministry’s official statement.


During her visit to the Guinean capital, Conakry, Khattab handed Condé a message from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in which he praised Guinean-Egyptian relations. Afterwards, she met with ministers of foreign affairs and high education, and visited the national library and Abdel Nasser University.


Condé exalted the Egyptian nominee’s experiences that qualify her for the UNESCO post.


Khattab reviewed her program with the Guinean foreign minister to enhance UNESCO's role in developing countries, especially African ones. She also discussed means to develop education with the minister of higher education.


The visit comes in the framework of Khattab’s tour to promote her program and rally votes for the UNESCO elections in 2017.
