CAIRO – 16 June 2018: Many Egyptians nationwide have been delighted by the news on Wednesday about Egyptian Professor Mohamed Badr taking the post of dean of one of Munich’s media faculties.

Despite not being the first Egyptian expatriate to achieve such a post, Badr, 39, has been seen as a source of pride to all Egyptians.

Badr is reportedly the youngest expatriate in Germany to take that post. He has won the competition against 17 German professors, according to the German Embassy in Cairo.

His academic journey incorporated La Sapienza University of Rome, Rome University of Fine Arts and Macromedia University for Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany. Badr was awarded his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Financial Management Services from Alexandria University in 2000.

Badr’s highly accomplished academic background encompasses a Ph.D. in political science and communication, and three master degrees. In addition, Badr is fluent in five languages, according to the professor’s account on LinkedIn, including English, Arabic, Italian, French and German.

Macromedia University, where Badr serves as a professor of media management, considers him an expert in international marketing, communication strategies and innovation management, according to the information provided by the university’s official website.

In the 1990s, Badr served as a financial analyst in the energy and petroleum sector where crucial decisions were taken based on his remarks, according to the university’s website.

Badr was sent on a mission to Italy until 2010 as part of his diplomatic service during which he reportedly implemented a number of bilateral and multilateral projects.

The young professor then joined Reuters Consulting group in Germany, where he acted as a successful team leader for creating growth strategies for some significant multinational corporations.

In 2014, he founded Badr Consulting in Munich, which is specialized in giving business and economic guidance and analysis to organizations.

According to Macromedia, Badr has headed the international Media and Communication management bachelor program at campus in Munich since 2014. Moreover, he has headed the joint program of the University of Westminster since 2016.

Badr has created joint programs between the University of Westminster in London and Macromedia University in Munich, the German Embassy in Cairo said in a statement on Wednesday.

In addition, scientific and cultural cooperation between the two universities in the media field has been reportedly endorsed thanks to his efforts.

Badr has been named 2017’s Best University Professor in Germany, following a serious competition with 72 German professors, according to the embassy
