CAIRO - 16 May 2017: Border Guard forces arrested 351 unregistered immigrants and infiltrators between April 25 and May 12 near the Western and Southern ground borders, official army spokesperson Col. Tamer el-Refaay announced in an official statement on Monday.

Moreover, in the framework of Armed Forces efforts to secure the state’s borders and combat terrorism, they thwarted an attempt to smuggle in large quantities of drugs, according to Refaay’s statement.

Security forces routinely thwart similar attempts of unregistered immigration, arresting hundreds, who still cross illegally into Libya, which is considered a migration route to Europe via the Mediterranean.
