CAIRO – 3 May 2018: Moataz Mahmoud, head of the Housing, Public Utilities and Reconstruction Committee censured the ministers of housing and finance, for not attending Thursday’s session in the Parliament.

Mahmoud strongly criticized the ministers saying that a minister who is not concerned about the citizens’ health and does not respect the heads of three parliamentary committees should better resign.

Mahmoud suspended the meeting until Minister of Housing Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Finance Amr el-Garhy, and Minister of Planning Hala al-Saeed attend. Mahmoud said that only Saeed apologized for not coming.

The Thursday session was set to discuss with the three absent ministers the possibility to increase funds to the water and sanitation facilities.

Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal has warned the members who skip the parliamentary sessions, saying that the names of those who do not attend the sessions will be announced on TV and a list of their names will be plastered across the districts they represent.
