CAIRO – 4 April 2018: Saudi Arabia nominated Osama al- Nugali as its new ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative to the Arab League, replacing Ahmed Bin Abdul-Aziz Kattan, who became the Saudi Minister of State for African Affairs.

Nugali used to be the Saudi deputy minister of foreign affairs for public diplomacy affairs and served as head of the media department at the ministry.

Nugali is known for his active interaction on social media platforms, mainly Twitter, as he represents the kingdom’s voice that defends its positions and interests in local and international media.

Kattan completed his assignment as Saudi ambassador to Egypt in March. Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi held a ceremony to celebrate Kattan’s successful diplomatic mission to Egypt. Sisi awarded Kattan the Nile Sash, in recognition of his efforts in enhancing Egyptian-Saudi relations over the past 14 years.
