CAIRO – 3 April 2018: Ambassador of Senegal to Kuwait, Abdou Lahad Mbacke, affirmed Tuesday that Senegalese-Egyptian relations will be strengthened during President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s second term.

Mbacke said in a press conference that he realized that President Sisi is more concerned about Africa than earlier Egyptian presidents. “We hope this behavior continues,” he added.

Mbacke affirmed Africa’s keenness on ensuring stability in Egypt, as it would help Africa to remain stable as well. He expressed hopes that Sisi’s second term would benefit the interests of Egypt, Arab world and Africa.

The National Election Authority announced Monday in a press conference, the victory of candidate Abdel Fatah al-Sisi over his sole contender Moussa Moustafa Moussa, head of Al-Ghad party, in the 2018 presidential election.

President Sisi garnered 97.08 percent of valid votes in the presidential election last week, where more than 21.8 million people voted for him, stated Ibrahim Lasheen, head of the National Election Authority.

Moussa received 656,534 votes, making up 2.9 percent of the valid ballots, Lasheen said. The turnout stood at 24,254,152 voters of 50,078,138 registered voters, he added.
