CAIRO – 2 April 2018: President Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia congratulated President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for winning the 2018 presidential election, and wished him the best of health, according to a statement by the embassy.

In a congratulatory message sent to President Sisi, Sargsyan praised the “centuries-old Armenian-Egyptian relations,” and wished Egyptian people everlasting peace and prosperity.

“Over the past few years, we have managed to deepen the ongoing multifaceted cooperation between our friendly countries, and establish a high-level sustainable dialogue based on mutual trust and understanding,” Sargsyan stated.

The National Election Authority announced Monday in a press conference the victory of candidate Abdel Fatah al-Sisi over his sole contender Moussa Moustafa Moussa, head of Al-Ghad party in the 2018 presidential election.

The National Election Authority Chairman Counselor, Lashin Ibrahim, said during the conference that President Sisi garnered 97.08 percent of valid votes in the presidential election last week, where more than 21.8 million people voted for him.

Moussa received 656,534 votes, making up 2.9 percent of the valid ballots, Lashin said. The turnout stood at 24,254,152 voters of 50,078,138 registered voters, he added.
