CAIRO – 31 March 2018: A general and nation-wide strike starts to take effect on Saturday across Palestine in mourning over the killing of 16 Palestinians during Land Day’s demonstrations staged on Friday.

The national political movements of Fatah and Hamas announced that the strike will occur in all the governorates of the country “to mourn the lives of the martyrs and to condemn the massacre and terror of the occupation forces, which deliberately targeted our people.”

On Friday morning, thousands of Palestinians launched the “Great March of Return” demonstrations in the besieged Gaza Strip to protest against Israel’s refusal to enable the refugees to exercise the right of return to their pre-1948 lands.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned in the strongest terms on Friday an Israeli aggression against Palestinians during rallies in the Gaza Strip.
In a press release, Aboul Gheit said the Israeli occupation shoulders the legal, political and moral responsibility for such a violation.
