CAIRO - 20 March 2018: A delegation of the Arab Parliament under its Speaker Meshaal bin Fahm al Salmi will attend the 138th round of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on March 24-28 in Geneva.

Salmi will address the meeting on establishing a Palestinian independent state and asserting the firm stance of the Arab Parliament towards Al Quds city.

In his word, Salmi will necessitate supporting the UNRWA to continue its work in Palestine.

In a statement on Tuesday, Salmi asserted the support of the Arab Parliament to the request of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) and a number of the Arab parliaments to present an urgent item to the agenda of the 138th round of the general assembly of the IPU on not touching the legal and historic status of Quds.

Salmi said that he sent 26 messages to 26 effective parliaments to rally their support towards the demand of the PNC.

The messages were sent to the European Parliament, Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), Pan-African Parliament, Latin American Parliament, NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, Union for the Mediterranean – Parliamentary Assembly (UfM-PA), Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, National Assembly of France, British House of Commons, China's National People's Congress, the Russian Duma, the German Bundestag, the Italian parliament, the Dutch parliament, the Spanish parliament, the Belgian parliament, the South African parliament, the Nigerian parliament, the Indian parliament, the Malaysian parliament, the Thai parliament, the Pakistani parliament, the Mexican parliament, the Brazilian parliament and the Argentinian parliament.

Salmi thanked the countries that support the Palestinian cause and defended the legal right of the Palestinians.
