Grand Imam returns to Cairo following trip to Portugal, Mauritania

CAIRO – 20 March 2018: Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb returned on Monday to Cairo after a trip that took him to Portugal and Mauritania.

He had talks with top officials in both countries on cooperation. He was hailed by the president of Portugal as a great religious leader who promotes tolerance and peace.

His visit to the European country lasted for four days. He paid a three-day visit to Mauritania.
