CAIRO - 22 February 2018: Lithuanian Ambassador in Cairo Arvydas Daunoravičius stressed on Thursday his country's desire to bolster ties with Egypt in all fields.

Egypt is a regional power and an important country in the Middle East region, Daunoravičius said at a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of Lithuania's independence.

He added that contacts are under way to prepare for a visit to be paid by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Antanas Linkevičius to Cairo soon.

A new round of talks at the level of the two countries' assistant foreign ministers will be held soon in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, he told MENA.

Daunoravičius also praised the first-of-its-kind visit paid by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to Lithuania in August, during which he discussed with his Lithuanian counterpart Linkevičius the latest political and security developments in the Middle East region. (MENA)
