Sisi back home winding up Gulf tour involving Oman, UAE

CAIRO - 7 February 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi returned home on Wednesday winding up a Gulf tour that took him to Oman and the UAE.

In Muscat, Sisi held talks with Sultan Qaboos bin Saed on means of upgrading cooperation especially in the economic field as well as enhancing the volume of trade exchange through the joint committee, that will convene its upcoming round of talks in the Omani capital.

Talks also covered regional and international issues of common interest as the two leaders underlined the importance of garnering up international efforts to work out peaceful settlements for the region's crises, especially in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.

The president also met with senior Omani officials and investors to expound available investment opportunities between the two countries.

In Abu Dhabi, Sisi conferred with UAE Deputy President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum and Abu Dhabi Crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nuhayyan on means of furthering bilateral relations in all fields, the latest regional developments as well as political files of common interest.

The two sides asserted the importance of standing against terrorism and extremist thought, enhancing joint Arab action for the sake of combating such dangerous phenomena which have become an increasing threat to regional security and stability.

Both the UAE leaders reasserted their support for Egypt in its war against terrorism, terming Egypt as a corner stone in the security and stability of the Arab nation.

Egypt and the UAE also asserted their keenness on intensifying joint consultations on challenges and crises engulfing the Arab nation and standing against any attempts to intervene in the Arabs' internal affairs in a way that could disturb the stability and security of the peoples of the region.

In this context, President Sisi affirmed Egypt's keeness on the security of the Gulf region, considering it as part and parcel of Egypt's national security.

UAE Crown Prince and Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nuhayyan and senior state officials bid farewell to President Sisi before his departure from the Presidential Terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
