11 Zamalek Ultras given 1yr in prison for attempted murder of Mortada Mansour

CAIRO – 23 April 2017: Egypt's Court of Cassation rejected an appeal and upheld a one-year prison sentence to 11 members of Zamalek football club fan group Ultras White Knights over charges of attempting to murder Zamalek club chairman Mortada Mansour.

The ruling is final and cannot be appealed.

The defense lawyer said that the arrest of the defendants was illegal and that they were interrogated without the presence of a lawyer.

The incident dates back to October 2014 when some members of the White Knights assaulted Mansour in front of Zamalek club’s main gate in Cairo.
