CAIRO – 3 February 2018: The Turkish state-run news agency, Anadolu Agency, has deleted and denied a Tweet that included a statement, supposedly from workers at Al-Sharq TV, a Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated satellite channel based in Turkey, saying the agency’s Twitter account was “hacked.”

Nour is accused by the general assembly and workers of the channel of “robbing” their financial dues and concealing the channel’s budget.

The statement, which was published by the Anadolu Agency's twitter account on Feb. 2, 2018, said Nour and the channel's administration are colluding against workers at the channel, who are currently incapable of bearing their basic life expenses.

The Ankara-based news agency tweeted, “Around 21:35 on Thursday, the agency’s Arabic Twitter account got hacked for around five minutes, during which contents related to Nour were published.”

“The Anadolu Agency affirms that it did not publish anything related to Nour and that it adheres to principles of objectivity and professionalism,” the agency further tweeted.

For his part, Nour thanked the agency on Twitter and claimed his personal email was hacked as well

Nour further claimed that the news that was published using the Anadolu Agency’s Twitter account is pure slander and that intended to “morally assassinate” him.

Social media reaction on what the agency and Nour tweeted maintained sarcasm.

Twitter user @Hamour_55 made fun of the Anadolu Agency’s tweet by saying, “And the Anadolu Agency affirm that Turkish and Qatari security agencies worked in collaboration and concluded that the hacking was done using a Nokia device, the one with the flashlight.”

@khoraga said, “And how can we trust the news you publish, all of these news are fabricated and this apology sheds the light on your way of dealing with whatever goes against Egypt.”

Twitter user @maremas2009 suggested Anadolu Agency should apologize to the dog, which Nour was cuddling in the photos, as well.
