CAIRO - 1 January 2018: Al Azhar grand imam Ahmed el Tayyeb wished a peaceful year for all mankind in 2018, urging for the necessity of enhancing the values of tolerance and coexistence and renouncing all aspects of violence, racism, and extremism in the whole world.

In a statement on the New Year's Eve, el Tayyeb said all the peoples shall work together to campaign for justice and equality in addition to help the vulnerable, disadvantaged and oppressed people.

The grand imam called for fighting poverty, hunger, marginalization and oppression in the globe, especially in Africa, Palestine, and Burma.
