CAIRO – 29 December 2017: Bodies of the six victims from the bloody attack on the Great Martyr Mina Church in Helwan arrived at the district’s archbishopric for the official funeral.

The bodies were covered with Egyptian flags and were received by their families, while a number of official figures were present.

Two armed men attacked the church in Helwan early Friday, targeting dozens of Christian worshippers who were attending a religious service, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.

According to the statement, the first attack on Friday took place at a household appliances shop. Then the attackers headed to the church, where they attempted to trespass the church's perimeter security, killing six civilians and one security personnal, and injured three others deployed at the church.

The security forces were able to capture one of the attackers, while the other one fled the scene, the ministry said.
