CAIRO – 21 December 2017: The official spokesman of the Ministry of Education Ahmed Khairy declared on Thursday that the rumors that have been circulated in media outlets that a student has died from meningitis in Al-Jazeera School in Cairo have no basis.

The Directorate of Education in Cairo has formed a committee consisting of officials from the ministries of health and education to investigate this matter. They found out that there are no health problems among the students of the school.

The committee also noted that a student died due to cardiac arrest while staying at home after a five-day absence from school. It added that the student’s classmates are in a good condition and no meningitis symptoms have manifested on them.

The committee decided that there is no need to take any precautionary measures from the school administration to stop the study or postpone the exams of the first semester.
