CAIRO - 10 December 2017: Minister of Defense and Military Production Sedqi Sobhi met on Sunday with a number of army commanders, top brass and officers of the Southern Military Zone.

Addressing the gathering, Commander of the Southern Military Zone Lt General Sherif Seif eldine said the elements of the Southern Military Zone are the guards of Egypt's western gate and they are strenuously working as part of the integrated system of the Egyptian army to maintain the national security in the fields of development.

The attendees started the event by observing a minute of silence over the martyrs who breathed their last in the recent terror attacks and conveyed their greetings to Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Addressing the military brass, Sobhi asserted that the armed forces are keen on developing the humanitarian skills as well as technical and combat abilities of the army personnel.

He praised the efforts of the Southern Military Zone elements which have shown up in their training activities and highlighted their key role in securing the state's borders, eradicating terrorism as well as carrying out development plans in southern Egypt and its surroundings.

The minister also asked the army personnel to exert their utmost efforts to be up to the level of tasks assigned to them in various circumstances.

At the end of the gathering, the minister honored a number of officers in appreciation of their distinguished performance during their training missions they have accomplished in the current year.
