RABAT - 6 December 2017: Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita on Wednesday summoned the ambassadors of the US, the UK, Russia, China and France over reports on US President Donald Trump's intention to relocate US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The foreign minister took the move upon directives from King Mohammed VI in the presence of Palestinian Ambassador in Rabat Jamal al-Shobaki, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The statement, carried by the Moroccan Press Agency, noted that the ambassadors were summoned as being the representatives of the Security Council's five permanent members.

The Moroccan minister called on the five countries to shoulder their responsibilities with regard to preserving Jerusalem's legal and political position as well as avoiding anything that could fuel conflicts and undermine the regions's stability.
