CAIRO – 21 November 2017: Well-known Kuwaiti columnist Fouad al-Hashim said that an arrest warrant was issued against him and he learned about it upon his arrival in his hometown.

Hashim said on his official Twitter account that this comes on the heels of the legal complaints issued against him by the former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassem.

In September, Hashim, who is known for his sniping at the Qatari regime and its corruption, said that he was threatened and that he would “pay dearly for his criticism of the Qatari regime.”

Kuwait has taken a neutral stance towards the Gulf states' rift with Qatar that has been ongoing for more than five months now. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain cut diplomatic ties with the state of Qatar on June 5 on charges of supporting terrorism and extremist groups in the region.
