RAMALLAH – 16 November 2017: The Palestinian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Thursday remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in support of settlement activities in Hebron city.

In a statement, the ministry said Israel's settlement plan comes as part of a colonial plot aimed at turning districts of Area (C) in the occupied West Bank into Jewish settlements.

Netanyahu's remarks reflect the international community's failure to stand up to violations committed by Israel, the statement read.

The ministry warned that such acts could hinder efforts exerted to bring about peace in the Middle East region.

On Wednesday, Netanyahu met with settler leaders, telling them the Jewish community in Hebron is the heart of Israel.

“To separate between the Jewish community in Hebron and Israel is like removing the heart, and so it will never happen,” Netanyahu told the settler leaders.
