Tourism Min restores monasteries part of Holy Family Journey to Egypt

CAIRO - 12 October 2017: Egyptian Minister of Tourism visited the Monasteries of El Natroun valley for development and restoration works especially those witnessed the Holy Family Journey to Egypt.

Egyptian Tourism Minister Yehya Rashed checked on Tuesday some places of the Holy Family's journey that began with three sites: the Natroun Valley, the monastery of Anba Bishoy, the Syrian Monastery and the Baramus Monastery, one of the important places that the Holy Family stayed at during their journey to Egypt.

This came after Pope Francis; Pope of Vatican, visited and granted his blessing to the icon of the Holy Family trip as a promotional symbol of the Holy Family journey and as a part of the ministry's preparations to launch the course of the journey.

The minister met with the leaders and heads of the three monasteries and asked them to submit their requests regarding the development of the monasteries and raising their efficiency in order to set a plan for immediate implementation within the framework of the ministry plan to develop the main points in the course of the holy family journey.

The minister has also instructed the Tourism Development Authority to work with the leaders of the monasteries to accomplish efficiency-raising works by the first of next November. He further gave directions to coordinate with the Ministry of Antiquities so as to complete the work of restoring the monasteries as soon as possible.
