Kiev - 24 August 2017: US Defense Secretary James Mattis visited Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, during his visit to Kiev.

Matiss' visit came with the 26th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

According to ABC News, it is scheduled that Matiss is to meet many important officials in Kiev.

The US minister stressed that president Donald Trump administration not and will not allow Russia to join Crimea to its territories, as well as the following military intervention to back Crimean separatists at East of Ukraine.

The US administration confirmed its support to Ukraine, pointing out to the Russian denial. As Moscow seeks for re-delineation of international borders by force.
