CAIRO - 17 August 2017: Egypt and donor countries will provide $15 million per month to Palestine Solidarity Committee led by Majid Abu Shamala to establish relief, humanitarian and developmental projects to ease the sufferings of Palestinians, declared the leader of Fatah movement in Gaza, Samir Al-Mashhrawi on Wednesday.

Starting from September, the countries will pump $15 million through a fund, which will be under the supervision of Egypt, to the committee not to Hamas to meet the needs of Palestinians in Gaza by establishing the projects on which the donor countries have agreed, said Al-Mashhrawi.

The Palestine Solidarity Committee has held a meeting in Cairo to set a long-term plan to tackle the problems and the blockade of Gaza as Egypt is keen on its national security, added Al-Mashhrawi.

As part of Egypt’s efforts to preserve its national security, it restores and expands Rafah crossing for the comfort of travelers, especially patients.

The committee has asked Egypt to open Rafah crossing permanently, stated Al-Mashhrawi adding that Egypt will open it permanently after its restoration according to what Egypt and Palestine will agree upon and to the requirements of Egyptian national security.

Egypt is exerting these efforts to address the situation in Gaza as the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has not taken any action in this respect; and the situation poses threats to Egyptian national security.
