CAIRO- 10 August 2017: The fifth round of trilateral Summit between Cyprus, Egypt and Greece will be held next November in Nicosia to discuss means of supporting and enhancing relations between the three countries, Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ioannis Kasoulides announced on Thursday.

Kasoulides hailed Egypt's stance in supporting his country, especially in the conflict between Cyprus and Turkey, referring to Egypt's statement at the United Nations in this regard, which was based on Security Council resolutions and international legitimacy.

"We are working with Egypt in many areas through our membership in the European Union. We understand the Egyptian position and support Egypt within the EU institutions”, Kasoulides added.

Kasoulides stressed his country's full and unconditional support for the Egyptian war on terrorism and extremist groups. Cyprus is working through the European Union to have a united European position in support of Egypt in the fight against terrorism.

According to Kasoulides statemnet, There will be a joint cooperation between Egypt and Cyprus in the field of transport.

There is a company in Cyprus that is interested in investing in the Suez Canal to provide marine services and contribute to aquaculture projects in the Suez Canal and Alexandria axis.

He added that Cyprus and Egypt think of establishing two pipelines for the transfer gas, the first from Cyprus from Aphrodisias field to the city of Edco on the Mediterranean, and the second line from northern Egypt passes to Cyprus and to end in Europe.

"We believe that the lack of preconditions may contribute to achieving a political solution and this is consistent with the Egyptian position which calls for a political solution in Syria and to let the Syrian people decide who governs them”, Kasoulides added.

On Libya conflict with Egypt, Kasoulides said that Egypt is right to maintain its borders with Libya, which are long and require great work so that terrorists are prevented from entering Egypt across the western border.

The Foreign Minister of Cyprus stressed the need to combat all extremist organizations, in northern Sinai.
