During the celebration, the president honored early graduates and states laureates of 2012 state and Nile awards.

President Sisi is keen to celebrate the Day of Science after years of suspension, as he confirmed two years ago that knowledge and scientists should be supported along with knowledge research to advance Egypt and its economy.

Day of Science has been celebrated since 1944 when King Farouk I has delivered the first speech to honor scientists, writers and artists and the Late President Gamal Abdel Nasser made the day of celebration on December 21 coinciding with the inauguration of Cairo University.
