CAIRO – 19 July 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi discussed with his Sierra Leonean counterpart Ernest Bai Koroma the relations between the two countries in a phone call Wednesday.

According to a presidential statement, Koroma expressed his appreciation to Sisi for Egypt’s support for Freetown in all different fields, wishing to develop the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the medical sector.

From his side, President Sisi said that his country will continue supporting Sierra Leone and will work with it to meet its developing needs during the coming period.

The two presidents agreed on holding a joint committee aiming to develop the relations between the two countries; however, no specific date was announced.

Developing the African-Egyptian relations has been one of Sisi’s top priorities since taking office in June 2014. He participated in the two African Union summits held in Equatorial Guinea and Addis Ababa, as he and other diplomatic delegations exchanged visits during the past period, according to the State Information Service (SIS)
