Cairo _ 27 May 2023 : Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Soha Gendi discussed with Cypriot Ambassador to Egypt Polly Ioannou vistas of joint cooperation as part of "Reviving Roots" presidential initiative.

The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that Gendi reviewed the three-way talks with her counterparts in Cyprus and Greece, which were held last November to probe different ideas and new proposals regarding all horizons of joint cooperation to build upon historical relations among the three countries.

The minister said that it was agreed on new initiatives for youth in the three states, in addition to promoting cooperation in tourism.

It was also agreed on continuing to hold meetings at the ministerial level or at the level of youth in the three countries in the period to come, including activities held on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum that is held annually under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, added Fouad.

Both sides reviewed the greater success made by the initiative and ways of fostering cooperation with Cypriot and Greek communities with Egyptian origin.

In turn, the Cypriot diplomat said she is looking forward to enhancing cooperation with Egypt within the framework of the initiative involving Egypt and Cyprus on all fronts.

The initiative stems from the long joint history of the three countries, and is an amicable and cordial message from Egypt to all those who lived on its land leaving a good legacy and heritage.

It is the first of its kind in the world as it aims at cherishing the foreign communities that once lived on Egyptian soil reinforcing ties between peoples.

President Sisi had launched "Reviving Roots" initiative during the tripartite summit that grouped Egypt, Cyprus and Greece in Nicosia in 2017.
