Egyptian companies to implement projects in Senegal with highest quality standards: PM to Sall

CAIRO – 3 February 2023: The Egyptian companies will implement the projects agreed upon in Senegal at the highest standards of quality, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed to Senegalese President Macky Sall.

Madbouly made his remarks during a meeting on Thursday between Sall and a number of Egyptian companies’ representatives on the sidelines of the Second Dakar Financing Summit for Africa's Infrastructure Development (DFS-2) in Dakar.

During the meeting, Sall hailed the capabilities and experience of the Egyptian companies within the boom witnessed by the infrastructure field in Egypt.

Sall asserted his country’s support to the Egyptian company, Elsewedy Electric, which signed an MoU on Thursday to implement a number of projects in Senegal including establishing the specialized economic city Sandiara.

Sall asserted that Egypt has always been a distinguished model for Africa and achieved a large success in the field of infrastructure along with other aspects of distinction in a meeting with Madbouly.

Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Housing Essam El Gazar, Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir, Egypt's Ambassador in Dakar Khaled Aref attended the meeting along with ministers of the Senegalese side were present.

Sall conveyed his greetings to Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, asserting the depth of ties binding the two countries.

The premier extended his thanks to Sall over the warm hospitality and voiced the thanks of President Sisi to his Senegalese counterpart. He expressed deep appreciation of President Sisi to his Senegalese counterpart and his keenness on consulting with Sall over various issues of concern to the African continent.

He also reviewed the great success achieved by Egypt in the field of infrastructure, topped by the power generation whether it is a traditional or renewable, upgrade of harbors, roads, railway, monorail and the electric train.

In this context, Madbouly pointed out to the establishment of two factories for producing locomotives and train carriages to cover the needs of the Egyptian market in the new year, noting that the production will be gradually be exported to the region and the African countries.

Madbouly praised the Senegalese president's efforts to achieve development in his country, asserting Egypt's readiness to extend its expertise and potentials of the Egyptian companies to contribute to the development of Senegal in partnership with the Senegalese government and the private sector.

He added that representatives of major Egyptian companies were keen to take part in the DFS-2.
