Egyptian president displays priority investment fields in roundtable with Indian businessmen

CAIRO – 25 January 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi held a roundtable discussion Wednesday with the heads of major Indian companies shedding light on the various investment opportunities available at Egypt's in-progress mega projects.

 

An example of those is the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCzone), which consists of industrial and logistic zones. The president underlined the viability of the project, given the country's strategic location and its free trade agreements with Arab and African countries among others.  

 

The chief of state also showcased the Egyptian economy's resilience in the face of global crises, saying it is the outcome of the government's willpower to accomplish sustainable development.

 

In that context, the president praised the growth of Egyptian-Indian economic ties over the past period, expressing readiness to start partnerships with Indian firms that would cooperate on the localization of different industries. The sectors of interest are pharmaceuticals, ICT, defense industries, infrastructure, oil and gas, electricity, and renewable energy.

 

On their side, the representatives of the Indian business community and Indian Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal expressed appreciation for the president for personally following up on facilitating the entry of Indian companies to the Egyptian market.

 

The Indian businessmen also praised the Egyptian government's developmental work, and the strength of the Egyptian economy. Most importantly, they displayed their plans to invest in Egypt, expressing desire to expand their cooperation with the Egyptian private sector as well.
