CAIRO – 27 November 2022: The Ministry of Social Solidarity released Sunday an infograph showcasing the different types of violence women aged between 15 and 49 and have been married at some point in their life went through at the hand of their husbands.

 

The 2021 figures showed that 25 percent of the women in the aforementioned category were subject to physical violence, 22 percent endured psychological violence, and six percent were victims of sexual violence.

 

As for domestic violence against children, it dropped from 93 percent in 2014, and 81 percent in 2021.

 

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) indicated Thursday that the percentage of females aged between 0 and 19 who have been subject to FGM fell by seven percent between 2014 and 2021 to become 14.2 percent.

 

As for females who are in the same age group and are at the risk of falling victim to the crime, their percentage is 27 percent compared to 56.3 percent in 2014.
