COP27 state parties seek to adopt document on climate challenges, says official

CAIRO – 18 November 2022: Ambassador Wael Abul Magd, Special Representative of the President-designate for the UN Climate Change Conference, COP27, said all state parties seek to adopt a document outlining climate-related challenges and the desired objectives.

Regarding the ongoing negotiations among the delegations of world countries, Ambassador Abul Magd said reaching final decisions on financing loss and damage requires consensus among all parties.

He added there are divergent views between some parties, noting that COP27 President Sameh Shoukry held meetings with those parties to come up with the necessary consensus.

Ambassador Abul Magd stated that around 22 pages of this document were drafted.

He clarified this document is related to the views of state parties, pointing out that the document of COP27 presidency would be issued on Saturday morning.

Ambassador Abul Magd asserted the COP27 presidency works on embracing a document that achieves the interests of all parties.
