CAIRO – 30 October 2022: The Egyptian Embassy in Ethiopia and Permanent Commission to the African Union (AU) organized the seventh and last panel discussion on the aimed for goals of the upcoming COP 27 to be held in Sharm El Sheikh on November 6-18.

Ambassador Mohamed Gad highlighted that Egypt's presidency of the summit is eager for achieving inclusivity in climate action, and transitioning from the stage of pledges to that of implementation.

The diplomat showcased that for the first time in the history of the summit, a special envoy for youth has been appointed. He added that the agenda also covers the impact of climate change on women and youth, especially in Africa.

In that context, Youth Special Envoy at COP 27 Omenya al-Omrany warned against the worsening of the repercussions of climate change on African children, mainly females, in the coming years, which would cripple their states' socio-economic rates, and ability to provide education and healthcare.

Omrany noted that the summit, for the first time ever, will have a pavilion dedicated to youth and children, as climate awareness has to be further promoted among those social segments.
