CAIRO – 14 October 2022: Seven people have been killed and eight others were injured as a bus overturned in Upper Egypt on Cairo-Aswan Road.

The injured were moved to Kom Ombo Central Hospital in Aswan and a hospital in Aswan’s Al-Sadaqa area.

Aswan saw a deadly accident in July when a bus collided into a truck on Aswan-Abu Simbel Road, killing nine people and wounding 44 others.

This comes while Egypt has seen a decline in the number of road accidents over the recent years in light of the national efforts to develop the country’s road network.

According to the statistical agency (CAPMAS), Egypt saw a decline in injuries and deaths due to road accidents by almost 29 percent and 9 percent respectively in 2020 compared to 2019.
