Egypt's Parliament speaker heads for Rwanda to attend IPU meetings

CAIRO – 9 October 2022: House of Representatives Speaker Hanafi Gebali headed for the Rwandan capital on Sunday, leading a high-level parliamentary delegation to take part in the 145th meetings of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU), to kick off on Tuesday.

Gebali will address the meetings on gender equality and the establishment of gender-sensitive parliaments.

Gebali will take part in the IPU permanent committees' meetings on climate change and human rights violations.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union is an international organization of national parliaments. Its primary purpose is to promote democratic governance, accountability, and cooperation among its members; other initiatives include advancing gender parity among legislatures, empowering youth participation in politics, and sustainable development.
