CAIRO – 4 October 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has attended on Tuesday a cultural symposium, dubbed "Will of a Nation" to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the 6th of October 1973 War.

The symposium included a number of cultural and artistic performances on the October victory in the presence of high-level officials, including Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki.

“It's important that you [some of the October War heroes] are here with us today,” President Sisi said during the symposium.

“This allows us to deliver a message through you to all Egyptians that dignity … cannot be brought by words and slogans, but rather by blood and sacrifices. That's how it has lasted until now,” the president added.

The October War marks the victory of Egypt, which was leading a coalition of Arab countries, against Israel. The fighting took place mainly in the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan heights, which were occupied by the Israeli forces.

On Monday, Sisi laid a wreath on the Unknown Soldier Memorial to mark the war anniversary. He also laid wreaths on the tombs of late presidents Anwar El-Sadat and Gamal Abdel Nasser.
