Egypt condemns ‘abhorrent' terrorist attack at Russia school

CAIRO – 27 September 2022: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry condemned on Monday the “abhorrent terrorist” attack against a school in the city of Izhevsk in Russia, which killed and injured many people including children.

The ministry extended its sincere condolences to the government and people of Russia as well as the relatives of the victims over this tragic incident, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

A gunman, 34, killed 17 people, including 11 children, in an attack against School No 88, 600 miles east of Moscow before he took his own life, the government of Udmurtia revealed.

The gunman, Artyom Kazantsev, was a former pupil at the school. His motives behind the attack have not been revealed.

The Kremlin designated the shooting as a “terrorist act”.
