CAIRO - 27 Septemeber: The Ministry of Health confirmed a new positive infection of monkeypox virus in the country for a patient coming from an Arab country.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said the new case detection comes as part of the ministry's efforts to check on the state's entries to report any suspicious pandemic cases.

The report said the patient arrived in Egypt on Sunday coming from an Arab country and he was isolated in a hospital to receive medical treatment.

All precautionary measures have been taken to ensure that the patient and his relatives do not contact any persons in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organization in this regard, according to the statement.

The statement said the patient is in a stable condition and receive all medical care.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, said “Anyone can contract monkeypox during direct contact with an infected person by face-to-face contact, coughing, sneezing, or breathing contamination, or by touching clothing or blankets, towels, surfaces and tools of the infected person.
