CAIRO – 19 September 2022: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on Monday, at the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Both ministers expressed their appreciation for enhancing the bilateral relations recently such as holding the joint committee on trade in July 2022 and the increase in the volume of trade exchange, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement.

Minister Shoukry welcomed the Indian companies' interest in investing in Egypt, especially in the field of green hydrogen production in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Abu Zeid said.

Both sides agreed to strengthen consultation and coordination mechanisms during the coming period, especially during the Indian presidency of the G20 in 2023, as Egypt aspires to contribute to restoring global economic activity and ensuring that the negative repercussions of the current international tensions are contained.
