CAIRO – 17 September 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke by phone with King Charles III of the United Kingdom on Saturday, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that President El-Sisi offered his deepest condolences to King Charles and the British government and people on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, who devotedly served her people and country for decades.

The President expressed his best wishes for King Charles and the British people in the future steps, Rady added.

King Charles III thanked President El-Sisi for this kind gesture, which confirms the special traditional relations between the two countries, Rady continued.

The call touched on a number of issues of common interest, particularly climate change, in light of the multiple initiatives sponsored by the British king in this field. This is also in addition to Egypt hosting the upcoming COP 27 summit in November in Sharm El-Sheikh, Rady said.

King Charles III was officially proclaimed as the new King of the United Kingdom after the death of Queen Elizabeth at her home in Scotland aged 96 last week.

Following the death of the Queen, President Sisi voiced his sincere condolences in the name of Egypt and its people to the royal family, the British government and people over the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Posting on his official Facebook page on Thursday, Sisi said "I offer my sincere condolences, in my name and on behalf of the Egyptian people, to the royal family, the UK government and people on the death of Queen Elizabeth II that ruled her country for long decades with complete wisdom."
