CAIRO – 11 September 2022: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday with the heads of the African Constitutional and Supreme Courts participating in the sixth conference organized by the Supreme Constitutional Court under the sponsorship of President Sisi, said Bassam Rady, the Egyptian presidential spokesperson, in a statement.

President Sisi expressed Egypt's keenness to support the role of the judiciary in African societies, within the framework of the sovereignty of constitutional legitimacy and in a way that achieves a balance between the rights and freedoms of citizens, and the public authorities' exercise of their functions, Rady added.

The meeting was attended by Judge Paul Fahmy, the president of the Supreme Constitutional Court; and his deputy judge Dr. Tariq Shebel.

President Sisi said that Judicial efforts are key in light of the challenges facing African countries, especially in terms of citizenship rights, the rights of refugees and migrants, the protection of cultural identity, the rights of peoples to their common natural resources, and economic development efforts.

The president added that popular awareness of the importance of the role of law and judicial institutions is necessary to enable countries to preserve their security and stability, and effectively address the challenges that threaten their entity, most dangerously the extremist ideology and discrimination among citizens on religious, racial or sectarian bases.
