CAIRO - 30 August 2022: Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that the 100 Million Healthy lives initiative has achieved great success, as it aimed to completely eliminate the C virus.
 
Abdel Ghaffar added that the state examined about 70 million citizens to detect hepatitis C as part of the initiative, where: “More than 2.2 million people infected with hepatitis C virus were detected."
 
The Ministry of Health and Population revealed the ways of infection with the hepatitis C virus, which are:
 
1- Blood
2- Injecting drugs
3- Transfusion of blood and blood products by injection
 
"Hepatitis C infection is not transmitted through breast milk, water, or food, or through transitory encounters such as hugging, kissing and sharing food or drinks with the infected person," stated the Ministry of Health and Population.
 
The Ministry further assured that it provides all means of treatment free of charge for those infected with hepatitis C until full recovery, in addition to all necessary medical analyses.
